AB 109 helps counties expand rehabilitation programs

With AB 109’s second birthday, many are examining how counties across California have implemented the legislation. Many counties used AB 109 public safety realignment as an opportunity to launch new programs or expand existing ones that help rehabilitate offenders, thereby reducing recidivism and jail crowding. Merced County expanded its program “All Dads Matter,” which helped fathers learn basic parenting skills and better communicate with their children.
