GEO Reentry Releases Orange County, California Outcomes Report

GEO Reentry Services has released a multi-year data report for reentry programs operated for the probation department in Orange County, California. The research team measures outcomes reports to assess a variety of program factors, ranging from population served and demographic details, accountability activities, and the impact services being provided are affecting criminal behavior. The data for this report was collected from 2014 through 2024.

GEO Reentry operates two reentry centers in Orange County for the Orange County Probation Department. The program model includes Cognitive Behavioral Treatment, alcohol and drug testing, substance use counseling, Moral Reconation Therapy®, parenting and family reintegration, employment readiness, education services, anger management, life skills, and individual case management. A nine-week Restorative Justice Workshop is also offered.

The outcomes report found the program is having a positive impact, with 1,933 individuals on probation served during data collection period. The two centers have a combined average daily population of more than 100 individuals. Criminal thinking patterns as assessed by the Texas Christian University’s CTS Scales were reduced by 13% and 9%, respectively, at the Orange County and West Orange County programs. In addition, there were significant improvements in participants becoming employed while at these centers. A supplementary report by the county’s research unit also found very few re-arrests for individuals who successfully completed these programs.
