Dauphin County Reentry Service Center Hosts Community Resource Fair

As part of National Recovery Month, the Dauphin County Reentry Service Center, which delivers treatment and training for individuals on probation and parole, hosted a Community Resource Fair with a number of local community organizations that provide services to justice-involved individuals.

More than 20 county and community service providers, which provide free services such as housing, employment, educational resources, health services and more, were on hand to share information with attendees.

“There is so much available in our community for individuals returning to the community and sharing this information in one place on one day can be very beneficial,” said Jacqueline Schap, program manager at the Dauphin County RSC, which is managed by GEO Reentry Services. “We also want to focus on removing the barriers of approaching community organizations and agencies.”

The Dauphin County Probation Department and the Pennsylvania State Parole Board refer individuals on probation or parole for services at the Dauphin County RSC. At the center, GEO Reentry provides a structured combination of evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatment, life skills training, case management, workforce development, and community connections designed to change criminal thinking.

National Recovery Month was started in 1989 by SAMSHA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). It is observed every September to promote and support evidence-based treatment and recovery practices, the nation’s strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery possible.
