A Fresh Start: Fresno County Reentry Program Celebrates Its Newest Graduates

Last week, hope and second chances took center stage at the Piccadilly Inn near Fresno Yosemite International Airport, where dozens of Fresno County residents marked a major milestone—graduating from the GEO Reentry Services program.

The celebration, co-hosted by the Fresno County Probation Department and GEO Reentry Services, brought together families, community corrections officials, and partners from across the county. All were there to recognize the hard work and dedication of men and women determined to turn their lives around.

For those on probation, the Day Reporting Center’s reentry program offers something rare: accountability and support without a return to jail. Backed by research and funded by the Fresno County Probation Department, the program is designed to lower recidivism through evidence-based classes and wraparound services.

Graduates like Anthony White took the microphone to share just how big an impact the program had on his life. “This program has changed me for the better. I’ve taken a multitude of classes—parenting, life skills, problem solving, just to name a few,” he said. “The most rewarding part? It forced me to get clean.”

White credits the program with helping him become a better communicator, parent, boyfriend, brother, and son. He’s looking forward to building his credit, saving money, and one day investing in his own business.

As each graduate crossed the stage, the room filled with cheers and applause, a reminder that with the right support, a fresh start is possible. The event wasn’t just a graduation; it was a celebration of new beginnings, for participants and their families alike.
