GEO Reentry’s Monroe, Louisiana Reentry Program Hosts Open House

GEO Reentry Services and the Monroe Probation and Parole Office hosted an open house to showcase the services and programs being delivered at the Monroe Day Reporting Center in Louisiana last month, and local officials, parole, probation and center staff, community partners, and program participants attended to learn the latest from the reentry program staff and participants.

Located at 807 Hudson Lane, the Monroe DRC offers evidence-based programming, including cognitive behavioral treatment, designed for individuals on probation and parole and successfully prepare them for life after jail or prison. The Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections selected GEO Reentry to manage several DRCs for the state. At these programs, individuals on probation or parole receive the ongoing treatment needed to help break cycles of criminal behavior. Classes at the center include cognitive behavioral therapy, employment readiness and career development, Community Connections, including links to community service providers, Adult Basic Education and GED prep resources and referrals, life skills and parenting classes and drug and alcohol classes.

At the open house, GEO Reentry Program Devon Carpenter said the Monroe Day Reporting Center is more than a checkpoint. “It’s a support system that’s focused on second chances and safer communities.”
