The DRC is operated by GEO Reentry Services in conjunction with the Shasta County Probation Department. It opened in 2013, was created in response to California’s AB 109 legislation and operates with the goal of changing criminal behavior through cognitive behavioral therapy, substance abuse treatment and groups that teach participants positive social skills so they are successfully prepared to reenter society.

The Shasta County DRC, which can serve up to 100 probationers, provides a structured combination of evidence-based practices, training, case management and community connections. The program combines daily reporting with groups and treatment that focus on employment or full-time school enrollment when participants exit the program.
