Team building with the Shasta County Day Reporting Center

Staff from the Shasta County Day Reporting Center took part in a recent fun run to benefit an area organization that provides assistance to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. The 5k run, which was sponsored in part by GEO Reentry Services, was open to the community and included live music and other entertainment. The event was a great way to bring individuals together, and we’re glad we were able to join in!

Officially known as the Zombie 5K Run/Walk, each participant started the run with two flags. As part of the race, though, they came across zombies on the path who wanted to steal their flags! Runners needed to make it to the finish line with at least one flag to be considered for a trophy.

The run benefited One Safe Place which provides legal services, safety options, and emotional support to adults, children, and seniors affected by domestic violence and sexual assault. The organization offers both intervention and prevention services, and they often partner with other resources in the area to act as a one-stop shop for community members interested in donating time or money.

We were proud to join in and help such a fantastic organization. For individuals who are victims of domestic violence, or for the individuals who are trying to change violent behaviors, community resources can make a huge difference.

GEO Reentry will continue to partner with similar organizations across the country.
