Tuolumne County Jail and Day Reporting Center Graduates Celebrate their Journeys

GEO Reentry Services and the Tuolumne County Probation Department recently hosted a summer graduation for individuals on probation who successfully completed the Tuolumne County Day Reporting Center and for individuals who have completed the county’s Jail Reentry program. The event was held at a local hotel conference center in Sonora, Calif., so family and guests could join this special event.

Staff, graduates, family members, community partner agencies, Tuolumne County officials and probation officers attended. During the ceremony, several graduates shared their experiences in the program, and several GEO Reentry staff reflected on the journey of the graduates as well as their next chapter of life in the community.

For program graduates, the celebration followed months of regular reporting to the Tuolumne Day Reporting Center, cognitive behavioral treatment and monitoring for substance abuse. For the jail program graduates, it was also an opportunity to reflect on the work they’ve done while incarcerated to prepare for release and connect with resources that will help them succeed in the community.

Located at 950 S. Washington St. in Sonora, the Tuolumne County DRC prepares individuals on probation for a successful reentry into the community and provides referrals to community services for issues such as domestic violence, anger management and parenting skills. The Tuolumne County Jail program includes cognitive behavioral treatment and other topics to prepare individuals for life in the community.
