Louisville Day Reporting Center participants graduate from employment program

The Louisville Day Reporting Center, a non-residential GEO Reentry center in Louisville, Kentucky, has partnered with Goodwill Industries of Kentucky for employment resources and training services. Through the organization’s Goodwill Works Kentucky program, participants from the Louisville Day Reporting Center are connected to local employers and have access to free career coaching. In addition, participants can enroll in Goodwill’s Soft Skills Academy, which aims to educate job-seekers on the skills they will need to successfully enter the workforce, including attitude, conflict resolution, dependability, safety, self-presentation and team building.

A group of participants from the Louisville Day Reporting Center recently graduated from the Soft Skills Academy with Work Ready Certificates after demonstrating their ability to embody these skills. The director of the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections and Louisville’s mayor attended the graduation, along with participants’ family members and GEO Reentry staff.

GEO Reentry believes employment and financial stability are key to helping participants successfully reintegrate. GEO Reentry’s programs are staffed with job developers, who establish partnerships with local employers and organizations. Participants can also work directly with job developers should they need additional assistance or resources. GEO Reentry’s programs also offer employment readiness courses, which help participants with resume building, job searching and interviewing skills.
